This place is one of the best North Texas has to offer. Chef Kenny is top-notch. From the cleanliness to the selections, it's truly one of the best. This is world-class sushi quality.

One of the best sushi places I've been too. On par with many of the restaurants from California's coast, to New York fine dining, and casual shacks in Florida. Honestly been a hidden gem and a go to date night spot. The wagyu wasn't worth it in my opinion but my girlfriend loved it! There was this interesting dish last time, wanted to try something new, and it was jelly fish brain and octopus. The crunchy texture took me by surprise, but if youre in the mood for something out of your wheelhouse, ask the staff. They have not guided me in the wrong. From sushi, to their amazing portion of katsu chicken, and monthly changes of imported specialities. Shun is the only place in Dallas to visit!

Incredible experience! The chef, formerly from Shoyo, brings top-tier expertise to every dish. The sushi was unbelievably fresh, and each bite was pure perfection. Exceptional food, great atmosphere—this is a must-visit for Japanese cuisine lovers!

Update: I had to come back for dinner. My wife and I were just discussing that we couldn't remember the last time we ended a meal thinking "that was fantastic", this is it! It was all fantastic, but the BACK9DALLAS may be the best roll I've had! I recently visited Shun by Yama Sushi for lunch, and I can confidently say it’s a fantastic new addition to the sushi scene! The atmosphere is modern and inviting, with sleek decor and comfortable seating that made for a relaxing midday meal. I opted for their sushi lunch special, and it exceeded my expectations. The plate featured a beautiful assortment of nigiri (salmon, tuna, and others) and maki rolls, all incredibly fresh and flavorful. The presentation, as you can see in the photo I took, was impeccable—served on a stylish slate platter with ginger, wasabi, and a side of soy sauce. The fish melted in my mouth, and the rice was perfectly seasoned.What really stood out was the great value for the price. The lunch special was reasonably priced, making it an excellent deal for the quality and quantity of sushi I received. The service was prompt and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. If you’re looking for high-quality sushi, this is definitely a spot to hit!

Hands down the best sushi place ever! The decor of the restaurant is very modern, the staff is super friendly, the food is beyond amazing. Nothing but GREAT words to say about this place! 100% recommend going here over and over again.

Incredible sushi - best we have had in DFW since moving here from Chicago 5 years ago! We came in for omakase to celebrate my birthday and the food, atmosphere, and service was spectacular. Drinks were a little slow to come out but we chalked that up to it being a busy night in a new restaurant. Definitely recommend and Chef Kenny Chong is a master of his craft. Can’t wait to come back!

The truffle salmon sashimi was a masterpiece, balancing richness with delicate umami notes. The crudo platter was beautifully plated, fresh, and bursting with vibrant flavors. The creamy seafood udon was indulgent and packed with depth—each bite was a delight. Service was impeccable! The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu. Every recommendation was spot on. If you’re looking for a high-end Japanese restaurant that delivers both in taste and experience, Shun is the place to be.

Brand new Japanese restaurant in McKinney. Beautiful and contemporary decor and open kitchen made me feel like being in New York City. The food was amazing. We ordered quite a few different dishes: sashimi platter, sizzling eel rice, grilled sea bass, string beans tempura, edamame, tuna appetizer, wagu beef, etc. we were impressed with every single dish. The texture and the flavor are very sophisticated and pleasing. Even the simple edamame which you see in all Japanese restaurants tasted much better than any other places. The seasoning on it made me want to lick the plate off. The sashimi was very fresh. The Uni was sweet which is hard to find in Dallas. I cannot say enough good things about this new Japanese addition to DFW area. The service was quick and friendly. Worth of driving 50 minutes to go to this restaurant if you are a Japanese food fan.
